Like a chocolate-covered cherry

The leaves have three distinct bands of color. At the center is a cherry-red heart, framed in chocolate brown and finished with a narrow chartreuse edge. Chocolate Covered Cherry comes true to type, so every plant gets the variety's colors and traits.

A variety for sunny spots

Chocolate Covered Cherry belongs to the Premium Sun series, bred for sunny spots. The variety handles full sun better than other coleus and thrives on a sunny balcony or patio. Read more about how much sun coleus can take in Coleus – sun or shade? It depends on the variety.

Growing Chocolate Covered Cherry

The plants grow tall and bushy with medium-sized leaves. Care for them like any other coleus, with airy soil and even moisture. An early pinch gives you more branches and a denser plant. Cut off flower buds as soon as they appear, and the leaves will keep their color longer.

From seed to plant

Chocolate Covered Cherry is sown like any other coleus and germinates in one to two weeks. You'll find the full sowing guide in How to grow coleus plants from seeds.
