Coleus outdoors

Coleus plants become the most beautiful outdoors during the summer months. We give you tips on how to succeed with coleus plants on your balcony or in your garden!

As coleus do not tolerate frost, we recommend that you move your coleus plants outdoors only when the evening temperature has been at least 10 ° C for a week.

In the beginning, you need to get your coleus used to the outdoors. Whether you are leaving the plants in a pot or burying them in the flower bed, it is good for your coleus to gradually get used to the new environment. In addition to temperature differences, the coleus leaves also need to get used to the wind and the sun's rays. We recommend that during the first few days you place your plants in a place that has shade and is wind-free and gradually accustom them to the sun. Then you can plant your coleus in, for example, flower boxes or in your garden. Remember that coleus plants prefer to stand in partial shade!

During the autumn, when the evening temperature drops again, we recommend not taking in your coleus that have been outdoors. The risk of getting vermin that spread to your coleus that are indoors is too great. It is therefore common to have mother plants indoors that you take cuttings from and then plant out. Should there be an accident with the coleus that are outdoors, you always have your nice plants indoors.

Good luck!
