Coleus seeds

Welcome! Here we go through what NN (No Name), true to type, ordinary, pelleted and fuseables coleus seeds are. We explain the different types!

NN (No Name) seeds

When you take a cutting of a plant, you get a genetic clone of the mother plant. But if you sow NN (No Name) seeds, the plant that comes up can look completely different from the mother plant!

This is because most varieties of coleus have emerged through crosses and are therefore hybrids. Since seeds not only inherit from their parents but also further back in the family, seeds from hybrids can give plants that look very different.

The following varieties of our coleus seeds are NN (No Name):

True to type seeds

Unlike NN (No name) seeds, the plants of true to type seeds become very similar to the mother plant. This is because in many stages the plants have been pollinated with the same variety until virtually all variation has been removed. Making true to type seeds is a laborious and expensive process that takes many years.

The following varieties of our coleus seeds are true to type:

Ordinary seeds

Coleus have very small seeds and we hand-pack all of our seeds. To get the small seeds out of the bag, you can, for example, use a moistened cotton swab. Coleus seeds are light-growing and need to be sown above ground without being covered. To succeed with your seed sowing, the seeds need a lot of light, a humid environment and a temperature around 22 ° C.

The following varieties of our coleus have ordinary seeds:

Pelleted seeds

Pelleted seeds are ordinary seeds that have a yellow shell of clay around them. In this way, all seeds become almost exactly the same size and have the same shape. Perfect for professional growers who use seed drills, but also for us as home growers. Another thing that is practical with pelleted seeds is that they have a different color than the soil, which makes them easier to see. Keep in mind that pelleted seeds need to be moist enough for the clay to dissolve and the seed to emerge.

The following varieties of our coleus have pelleted seeds:

Kong

Premium Sun

Fuseables seeds

Fuseables seeds are ordinary seeds of different varieties that have been fused into one. The idea is to get a ready-made mixture of varieties that grow just as quickly, grow just as tall and look good together in a bush.

The following varieties of our coleus have fuseables seeds:

Fuseables Chocolate Symphony

Fuseables Under The Sun
